New tourism banners by Yukon artists unveiled for National Tourism Week

UFO sightings are common in the Yukon. My earliest memories are overhearing the adults talk about the strange things in the woods: from large hairy creatures to telepathic galactic beings. Now, as an artist who paints UFOs and the supernatural, people often come to me with their stories and sightings. The Yukon is in no short supply of unexplainable (and explainable) phenomena.

The fall and winter are the perfect times to star gaze.

The colder the night, the brighter the stars and a higher chance to see northern lights.

Growing up, I remember hearing stories about unknown creatures in the woods, or strange dancing lights in the sky.

I would and still do spend hours looking at the night sky, endlessly following my thoughts, imagining worlds, possibilities and wondering what the stars see when they looked back at us.

As an intuitive, a painter and fine toy maker, my work is often a playful exploration of colour and narrative, inspired by the wild stories and landscapes of home.

This painting is An illustration of our winter nights, under a moonlit sky that holds a little surprise, a nod to our love of the mysterious and the playful. A UFO has found its way into the scene, because what is the Yukon without a twist of the extraordinary?

This painting is an homage to those whispers in the woods and the wisdom of the stars, where the natural and the supernatural meet under the watchful eyes of the auroras.

I hope this painting serves as an invitation to share stories, gaze deeply into the night, and stay curious about the magic that surrounds us.
